Wordpress on my Own Domain

Welcome to Blogging Sueblimely. To keep up with my posts you can subscribe to my RSS feed and follow me on Twitter. Thanks for visiting!

Welcome to my new blogging home. After nearly 2 years of running a .blogspot Blogger blog I have cut loose with a new blog, a domain of my own and a transfer to Wordpress.

This is an exciting move for me. Six years wiser, probably thousands of hours of blogging research under my belt and blogging friends for support I am ready to work on what is a blank canvas of a blog.

I first started blogging about 6 years ago, firstly with a blog for family and friends only. Apart from the family I created for myself in my adopted home of Australia (a husband and 3 children at that time) all my relatives were over in the UK as were some of my closest friends. Blogging was an ideal way to keep them up to date on our news, with the added bonus of photos.

My passion was born, fueled as time progressed by increasingly advanced developments in blogging and related web applications. I started a blog, now abandoned, on web design (which is how I try to make a living). The more I learned about blogging the more I began to appreciate its value in society for bringing people together from diverse backgrounds and cultures, to share common interests and goals. The development of social networking platforms and blogging communities, enabled by more advanced web technologies, gave me even more study. Having a background in Social Psychology and Sociology, I lapped this up.

My progression to blogging about blogging was therefore a very natural process. I wanted to share the knowledge I had gained over the years. In addition I wanted to be a part of it all.

I discovered there were many other well respected blogs about blogging and realized I had a tough road ahead of me to find readers interested in what I had to say. Many of these blogs are primarily concerned with how to make money online, Search Engine Optimization, and link building for the sake of it. They do contain some valuable information for all bloggers but only a minority of bloggers really need such detailed information on these matters. In my experience, most bloggers are just interested in writing about their interest areas, finding common ground with others and developing a close but not necessarily massive community. They just want to enjoy blogging, plain and simple.

So my motivation remained and purpose became defined. To help bloggers enjoy their blogging and to get the very most of it. I began to talk of areas I thought would be of the most interest and as time passed my readers began to help me by letting me know what they wanted or needed to know. Please keep your questions coming. Whether you are a complete beginner or a seasoned blogger, all questions are welcomed. The answers will hopefully help you and many others.

The blank canvas is no more - as soon as I press publish. Here goes, the new blog is born :-)

WOW.. Let me be the first to comment here … Congratulations on moving Sue… I never knew you were English! I know your blog will become one of the most popular blogs out there, just because you are able to put so much personality into your writings and design!

I feel overwhelmed from all the blogs that are talking about affiliates and money making techniques, all the time… Sure, I want to learn all of that, but where is the real content that resonates with us? I don’t want my blog to become ‘feelingless’, so I will continue to talk about things that sound interesting to me, and hope others will find them interesting too :)

My bests!

Great idea. I’ll look forward to reading the journey. It is so tempting to follow suit and start from scratch. Bit like doing a liver detox perhaps?

An excellent first entry, Sue. This is how fresh starts need to be done. And I love your courage…
You’ve gone a long way with your blogspot blogs. I guess from now on you will focus your efforts more on this one :)

links from TechnoratiYet we see here the same genuineness and dedication. Sue’s been around the blogosphere for 6 years now. That’s a long time, my friends. And that’s a lot of experience. You can welcome the new Sueblimely blog with a comment on her first entry:Wordpress on my Own Domain.

Thank you all for your good wishes and I am quite looking forward to the challenge of developing this blog from scratch - although it is not from scratch really as it already as one of the most important ingredients is already there. Your comments :-)

Nothing wrong with trying to earn money blogging, Jay. I would probably do the same if I could build up the enthusiasm for doing all that was necessary to achieve it :-)
