One Note Examples of Use

Microsoft One Note Thumb

As promised, I am following up on my last post, ” Productivity With One Note“; this time to give you examples of how I use the program. I am a blogger, web designer, and internet marketer. This is in addition to my roles as mother/carer and committee member of a national disability charity. I need to be well organized so that I can easily swap from role to role. I always keep One Note open and available for every time I want to make any kind of notes. I have a few separate “Notebooks” open at a time, which are [...] Continue Reading…

Post-Writing a Blog Post Post

Most of the blogs I look after have target markets and there are specific and individual ways that I promote their new content. After being away from regular blogging here, I have had to remind myself of  various essential tasks and promotional methods; that used to come just naturally after I had written a blog post. I wrote them down as a reminder to myself and to share with you: Before publishing the blog post Check spelling and grammar. Look at the post and paragraph length and alter if necessary. Can I make better use of lists to emphasise points [...] Continue Reading…

Blogosphere News 1st April

News Adobe PhotoShop has released a free online version Adobe PhotoShop Express. It is only available to the US as yet, which peeves me, so all I can tell you is that it is a cut down and simpler to use version of Photoshop. As you are given your own URL I presume you can share your creations with others. Perhaps one of the privileged could let us know if it is any good although Profy thinks so Photoshop Express – An Excellent Web-based Photo Editor Andy Beard has been noticing a trend in his blog and other which leads [...] Continue Reading…

Take Advantage of Your Host

I have talked previously of the advantages of hosting your own blog but only from the perspective of the blog itself. Owning your own domain and hosting package has other plusses, giving you freedom to create additional content for blogging and personal purposes. All you need is enough free space on your host server to be able to install other software and the choices are endless. You may be thinking that this all sounds too hard and that you do not have the know how to install and manage anything more than blog software but, for a large proportion of [...] Continue Reading…

The Meaning of Blogging – digital story

Renny of Renny BA’s Terella has created a delightful video explaining what blogging means to him. He has kindly given me permission to include it here. If you are trying to explain to non bloggers what the appeal of blogging is this would be an excellent video to show them. It would not be a bad thing to review it yourself from time to time, especially if your motivation needs a bit of a boost. A different perspective for those who are blogging for income comes from Darren Rowse in his most recent weekly video, He answers the question from [...] Continue Reading…

Page Rank – forget it but still increase traffic

Darren Rowse of Pro Blogger has created a video that highlights the most important and fundamental elements in achieving a high page rank. This has nothing to do with Search Engine Optimization techniques (SEO), linkbaiting, submitting your blog to directories or social networks but all to do with the quality of your content. Darren believes that people are becoming obsessed with page rank and place too much emphasis on it. If you instead concentrate on creating the quality content Google is looking for then page rank will look after itself. I find it reassuring to be reminded of this. I [...] Continue Reading…

More Ways to Make Fellow Bloggers Hate You

Mihaela Lica at The Dog Yard has tagged me to continue a tongue in cheek thread she has started “10 Ways to Make Your Fellow Bloggers Hate You” . I will not duplicate her list as you may be interested in following the thread via the others she tagged. Starting from number 11: Another 10 Ways to Make your Fellow Bloggers Hate You or to misquote Elizabeth Barrett Browning “How do I hate thee? Let me count the ways.” Place so many ads at the top of your site so as to cause RSI (Repetitive Scrolling Injury) in the readers [...] Continue Reading…

Blog Design – 25 KISS techniques

I have had blog design on my mind for a few days in lieu of having the time to actually design something for my impending move to WordPress. I came up with some wild, wonderful and complicated ideas only to end up reminding myself of the KISS principle – Keep it Simple Sue. I brought myself back to earth and reverted back to more basic web design principles and the particular needs of a blog site. These concepts apply whether you are designing a blog from scratch or trying to choose a pre-made template. Keep it Scope Sensitive 1. Consider [...] Continue Reading…
