SSS 17 – Subscribe to this RSS Button

It’s Sueblimely Silly Sunday time again. Have you noticed that Subscribe to Feed buttons are becoming larger and larger on many blogs. I know the theory is that if you place the button in a prominent position towards the top of your sidebar then you are likely to get more subscribers. Now it looks as if that the trend is to try to coax readers to subscribe before even reading the blog; by having the button so large they distract you from the content. (you guessed, I am exaggerating but they are getting bigger). I remember a time not so [...] Continue Reading…

SSS 11 – How Blogging mirrors real life

I have spent a lot of time this week pondering the direction in which I want my blog to go but I will talk of this some other day. As it is “Sueblimely Silly Sunday” time again I will instead let you have a peek into the less serious side of these thoughts. If I don’t keep my mind focused it tends to wander off in all sorts of wild and wonderful and absolutely silly directions. Do I hear you saying ‘keep taking the tablets dear”? The main focus of my more deep and meaningful thoughts was the social psychological [...] Continue Reading…

SSS 11 – Laughter is the best medicine

Found on Flickr From Stamp and Shout If you don’t find these at all funny you could always try to laugh.. Laughter, even for no reason at all, is meant to have healing powers over mind and body. Weekly laughter classes are held at a community hall not far from where I live. I thought I would check online to see if laughter therapy was becoming popular. It certainly looks that way. 2007 Laughter Yoga Cruise (It is beyond my comprehension how anyone can find contorting themselves into unnatural positions any way amusing. *Yoga classes did help me though. I [...] Continue Reading…

SSS 8 – Sueblimely’s Silly Sunday

Something smelled a bit off about an article in the Australian ‘The Age’ newspaper this week. It seems that the lack of smoke in crowded nightclubs has highlighted other olfactory offenders. Something does not smell quite right about smoking bans: I am not sure the humor in this widget from jokes4all will be to your liking – or mine either, having only seen few of what is on offer – at least they seem clean (do I hear you say ‘that is a shame?’) Enjoy the rest of your Sunday. SSS 7 – Google developing new languages?

I am surprised the fact that Google is developing new languages has not had more media coverage. I only discovered it myself when looking at the new Google translation site. Here is a selection of their language translation options: Chinese (Simplified to Traditional) BETAChinese (Traditional to Simplified) BETAEnglish to Arabic BETAEnglish to Chinese (Simplified) BETAEnglish to Chinese (Traditional) BETAEnglish to FrenchEnglish to GermanEnglish to ItalianEnglish to Japanese BETAEnglish to Korean BETAEnglish to PortugueseEnglish to Russian BETAEnglish to Spanish It seems rather a waste of time to me. If people have to relearn their language then why does Google not develop [...] Continue Reading…

Rounded Corners Made Easy

The images and coding for creating rounded boxes becomes relatively simple if you use the online corner image creator, Corner Shop , which was Created by Zach Beane At Corner Shop you decide on the color you want for your box and enter the hex code color (eg #B0C8F2) for your box background and the color of your page background. Decide on the corner radius. I used the default of 10 to create these boxes as they are quite small. The four corner graphics are generated for you to save and upload to your blog photo store folder. The CSS [...] Continue Reading…

Sueblimely’s Silly Sunday (SSS) 5

A couple of sites appealed to my perhaps slightly offbeat sense of humor this week. Halliburton’s One-Size-Fits-All Climate Change Solution Winners of the “I Look Like My Dog” Contest Thanks to my son for the latter – I was having a sneaky peak through his Stumbleupon favorites. Well it was a surreptitious look at the time, if he reads this I will be sprung.. Please excuse the following if you object to the idea of insults but the words and language had me rolling with laughter. I would never insult anyone in any way of course. Shakespearean Insulter This comes [...] Continue Reading…
