Weather Observations
I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas. After the mad rush of shopping, baking, house cleaning and decorating I was pleased to be able to relax some on Christmas Day and appreciate the spirit of giving. Cooking a full Christmas roast in summer Australia was not arduous this year as Melbourne had a pleasantly cool day. My daughter informs me that Perth had the hottest Christmas Day on record - it reached 44.5c (over 112f) yesterday.
Sounds like a day for “throwing a shrimp on the barbie” . This phrase has entered the Aussie vernacular only since being coined by Paul Hogan in an Australian Tourism Commission TV advertisement for Australia made in 1984. Although not used often, it is used. Other phrases in this ad "G’day Mate" and "No worries" are definitely a part of colloquial Aussie language.

Using Flickr images in blog posts
I found this article on Skelliwag really useful as I was not totally clear on what the copyright rules were for using Flickr images in blog posts: A Complete Guide to Finding and Using Incredible Flickr Images
I am going off to hit the after Christmas sales now as it should be quieter by this time of the day - I wili try to gnore the fact that my credit card bill always gives me a shock after the pre-Christmas spending.

Hi Sue,
I did have a wonderful Xmas - out of town, late on buying Xmas presents as usual, trying to get something in the last minute and feeling like Arnold in “Jingle all the way.” I was happy to find my way back home and to find the wonderful gift you sent me. Thank you so much for your wishes.
All I can do now is to wish you a prosperous 2008 and may all your dreams come true.

Mig’s last blog post..Merry Christmas!
Thank you Mig
If I keep on meeting wonderful bloggers 2008 is bound to be as good as 2007
I think that if you keep your dreams sensible and in perspective they do come true because you can make them happen. If they don’t come true then you were not being realistic
That’s my theory these days anyway and it keeps me happy with life.
A happy and successful year to you Mig - full of your realistic dreams coming true
I had a wonderful Christmas!
Thanks for the link to Skellie’s guide on using Flickr images, I found that to be pretty eye-opening to say the least!
