Welcome to Blogging Sueblimely. To keep up with my posts you can subscribe to my RSS feed and follow me on Twitter. Thanks for visiting!
There are some advantages to dragging yourself away from the PC now and again (not that I often find many good ones!). One of these is meeting up with other bloggers or people who share your blogging topic areas.
I have been updating my Melbourne Bloggers Facebook Group page today. I set up this group to share information about events that may be of interest to bloggers in my home city. Apart from groups dedicated to blogging, I have come across many others - from subject related interest areas to just socializing for the sake of meeting new people.
Some groups get together for informal chats, others have more formal meetings for the purpose of sharing and learning knowledge and skills.
Advantages for bloggers of going along to meet ups: .
- To find like minded people to share your passion for blogging. You are likely to find that your family and friends do not understand your interest in blogging and are not really interested in hearing about it. Meeting up with other bloggers will give you that opportunity.
- You may even come across people you have already met online through your blog, your comments or from social networking sites.
- Share your interest areas. For example, those who post a lot of photos may be interested in joining a digital photography group.
- Learning about blogging platforms, social networking, blog design and coding and all sorts of other things blogging related.
- Getting yourself known and bringing new regular readers to your blog.
- Giving your new ideas for topics to write about.
- Allowing yourself a break from blogging especially if you are lacking motivation or ideas. If you miss a blog post by taking time out, reassure yourself it is worthwhile to relax and refresh yourself.
- Giving your fingers and blogging brain a break and exercising other areas (e.g. walking to the train station and around the city)
Where to find meetups - online of course.
(I will post a more comprehensive list later)
Joseph of ProPR says of one of the bloggers meetings he attended “We were there for one another. Not to make points.” in The spirit of the blogosphere translates into real world meet ups
If you cannot find a local group of interest then you could consider starting one of your own.

sounds like a great idea Sue…..best of luck with it
the only blogger I know within shouting distance is Olive (The Life of Riley) at Woy Woy who is the world’s oldest blogger at 108 years old….
I think it would be fascinating to meet Olive though:-) I don’t always practice what I preach - doubt if I will be attending many meetups, if any. I am too content with being in front of my PC these days.
emm.. very nice
