If you are asked what presents you would like for Christmas why not choose something that will make your blogging life easier:
A tux droid sounds like a perfect blogger’s companion. Take this cute little wifi penguin with you around the house and he will alert you of new RSS feeds and incoming email. Keep him by your side at the computer for when you are totally absorbed in writing posts. He will speak your Google calendar events out loud so that you cannot ignore your appointments. I wonder if he can be programmed to say “You have a comment”?

For those times when blogging gets you hot under the collar there is no need to leave your desk to reach out for a cold refreshing “tinny”. Keep a can of your favorite drink at hand in a USB fridge. Very hand for ladies of a certain age who are getting hot ‘blog rushes’.

For those of you who, despite appreciating what modern technology has to offer, long for some of the more traditional offerings of yesteryear, the USB Hoover allows you to combine the two. You do not have to leave your chair, interrupting your train of thought, to clean up the little messes caused by eating lunch at your desk while posting.

I know, despite all good intentions, that I need to do more exercise. Blogging and its peripheral activities reduces the time available. How about this solution to encourage you to exercise without reducing the time available for blogging – The cycle powered laptop: The Polytechnic of Madrid’s winning entry in an Intel sponsored competition to find renewable and sustainable methods to power laptops. The runner up used hydrogen. I wonder if that would make for lighter laptops? My daughter has to wear all natural fibres at work because of her daily task of releasing hydrogen weather balloons. If I keep on talking like this I may be able to use my ‘hot air’ to power this laptop!

We received an early Christmas present yesterday, from a UK visitor from who is staying with us, (Thanks Gary). The gift, a light up running reindeer, will be gracing our roof with cheerful sparkle. Thinking it would look very lonely on its own out there, we have strung up other outside lights.
I must admit I do really enjoy these sort of aspects of Christmas and I always have decorated the inside of the house. Part of the child in me remains, which I think helps when you have children of your own. I wonder what my style of decoration says about me. I do not have to continue wondering after discovering that Allie D of Memories of a Gouda has given us her psychological assessment of personality; based on the type of Christmas Light display we favor – The Christmas Light Personality Test

That penguin is perhaps the cutest thing I have seen today! That would be awesome if it could be programmed to say “You’ve got Comment!” or something, hehe. And the mini-cooler is a great idea too – my laptop is upstairs and over the hot Christmas period it’s nice to have a drink handy, but that means I have to walk downstairs to get it! Lazy I know!

I suppose you still have to go get the can in the first place but this will keep it cool. I thought the penguin so cute too. I bought my son a singing, dancing penguin for Christmas – it sings a Christmas song. I could not resist even though he is 22:-)
lol….I want the penguin. How very cute. I usually move around the house to escape my computer though so I hope little happy feet doesn’t tap after me.
It would be like going to the loo to escape kids who just won’t leave you alone, only to have the kids burst in and say, “Mum, can I have an orange/or a toy/or a book?” etc.
Megan from IMaginif’s last blog post..Christmas Tree Safety At Home
I certainly appreciate your point there Megan. I remember that phase in life well – nowhere was private. The only time I did get privacy was when instead of giving the kids time out in their rooms for arguing with each other, I used to send myself to my bedroom. They knew not to disturb me. It worked wonders. Without an audience there was no need for them to argue and they did not get attention for it by me trying to mediate or punish in another way
Oh I have to have one of those penguins! Too ace for words!

Hi Kate
Thanks for visiting – it meant that I had could visit you – I really enjoyed reading your blog. It brought back some lovely memories of when my offspring were young.
Hi Sue,
You’ll have to let us know if the ‘hot air’ powered laptop works hahaha….just think of the electricity we would save
I’ve just spent the weekend finishing my interior Christmas decor, my daughter is here for Christmas and it had to be done before she arrives on Thursday, or I would be in serious trouble lol, but I love it when it’s all done and the lights are on.
Have a great week my dear friend,
Colin
I’ll keep you informed if my new invention gets off the ground – that sounds as if I am trying to create a flying laptop
There’s a thought!
The decos do make Christmas that bit more special. Even though my kids are older I still cannot get away with not putting them up. Not that I wouldn’t want to anyway.
A happy upcoming birthday to you too. Hope you have a wonderful time with your daughter.
whats a pity, there are no such gifts in russia
I really like what you had to say here! It\’s about time! Would you mind if I placed a link back from my blog?
