Fechr Feature

Welcome to Blogging Sueblimely. To keep up with my posts you can subscribe to my RSS feed and follow me on Twitter. Thanks for visiting!

There is some mutual back-scratching happening over at Fechr . Write a post about the Fechr site, saying what you think about it, and you may be chosen as the featured blog of the day. The site plans charging for the priviledge in the future, with this free offer only then available on a Friday. Charges in the future will start out at a “modest $5 to $10″ but they do not say what the immodest price will be.

Fetchr is pronounced ‘feature’ but I am not sure I would remember to call it that.

I decided to have a look round to see if there was anything being said about the site other than what Fechr suggests is said. It does seem that if you are featured your site will benefit from a fair few hits:

Fechr will come and visit your blog after you have done a post about them, submitted your details and post URL.

Don’t forget about the Digg/Stumble/Reddit/Delicious buttons on the top. Hitting these not only helps Fechr.com, but it helps the feature that day (with some extra traffic) and future features (by perhaps bringing in some repeat visitors).

(Fechr leaves a comment on your post too - I wonder what they will say in reply to this post?)

Woof, Woof….I think Fido will stick with what works lol.
Wow, you can get featured for a whole day and it don’t cost any doggie treats either….that’s wuffly nice of them isn’t it?

Now fo you think if we throw a stick in the right direction they will go and forget to come back?

I cannot believe that something that hasn’t even got off the ground is contemplating charging people for a service that may provide them with a couple of extra hits…..I’m soooooo desperate for traffic I better get on my paws and scoot right on over there before they close the kennel doors!!!

I’d say that you’ve done your research. Excellent article my friend! I love reading about my own ideas, haha!

I got my hits the first week that it started featuring sites. It is well worth it for free. Are they charging already?

A clever marketing ploy on the part of Flechr though. I think I may announce that I am going to charge people to read this blog in the near future. Do you think it may work? That was a rhetorical question! You are desperate for traffic - I think someone put up a closed road sign at the end of my street!

Hi I actually got the almost 200 visitors from Fechr at my other blog Smart not Cheap and my stats said they average visitor was staying over 6 minutes- so there was some obvious reading going on. The admin also seeded some diggs- that apparently brought in I believe over 30 more visitors that were actually staying and reading. I thought it a pretty good trade off for a quick post. As for your other commenter saying that they can’t believe they are contemplating charging. I can- Fechr isn’t ran like one of these bogus buy 1,000’s of traffic hits schemes. The only thing I wonder is how they will keep up with the 24 hours and all the blogs in the que. That’s only 365 blogs that can be fechr’d a year technically- but I am sure they have something already in the works. Thanks for the link, Michelle I can be found here Smart not Cheap and here
One of a Kind Wisconsin.

Thanks for taking the time to visit and comment bobby. Fechr must be keeping you busy. Was the idea of the word being construed as ‘fetch’ rather than ‘feature’ a part of your naming process or is it just me and my weird mind that saw the relationship?

I do do my research before posting (and try things out too) rather than just repeating what has been said elsewhere. One reason why my posts are not as frequent as I would like.

This is interesting. You’ve made the point that if your blog says something, that something is the key part of attracting traffic with a bit of help from reputable sites. Seems to me blogging is hard work and a natural self-sorting does take place. If you want to be read, you have to want to say something worth hearing. What am I missing?

You are on the mark there Sandy, content is the key to developing and maintaining a good readership. Those interested in your particular content need to find your blog to begin with. Many blogs cover the same topic. A new blog covering a popular topic will find it harder to bring readers in, however fresh an approach it brings to the subject. Some marketing needs to be done.

Flechr does not come from unknown territory. Bobby Griffin also runs Blankest Blank and Bestest Blog and provides free link directories with a difference. All this must take a great deal of time so I don’t blame Flechr for trying out a paid service.

Have you noticed any general increase in your readership, from people returning after your Fetchr feature, Michelle?
