Thanks Colin. I am keen to get into the design side of things, as I do not like this template at all, but have had other things I needed to do workwise. I am please Akismet is effective.

Hi Sue,
Congratulations on your move to WordPress – although a little belated!
I hope that the transition wasn’t too bumpy but you seem to have covered quite a bit so far…very impressive.
I find that Akismet does a good job at containing spam, though I confess I get a lot of it and am grateful for Akismet moreso on my security blog
It sometimes puts pingbacks in there too, but I always check before deleting.
I’ll put this one into blogroll.

Thanks Mig. Going to have a look at the plugin now. I will add more as I go along but I don’t want to make a move to WordPress too daunting for others considering the move. WordPress is pretty good ‘straight from the packet’ with its built in features and many people do not want to have to worry about lots of addins.

As for me – I just love addins/plugins and even widgets. I have to be careful not to go overboard and slow my blog down to a crawl Any suggestions you make are always very gratefully received.

A very good list, Sue. Of course, there could be more other things to add, but you covered the basics. I would just add the KB Robots.txt plugin to your list.
