Nominate a Blog Star

Shai Coggins is planning on creating a Bloggers’ Walk of Fame, where “bloggers of every shape, size, and style can be acknowledged, by way of what they contribute to the world at large”. She is asking us to nominate bloggers who are warm, caring, supportive and authentic – those who make a difference to their readership, however small it may be. You can read more about it in her post Are You a Blog Star?

Shai has an impressive background, being one of the “co-owners and Vice President (Community) of a global new media network, b5media.com. She’s also a writer, artist, published author …,”

Good onya for thinking of this Shai. For the majority of bloggers blogging is not about how well they do in search engines but being part of a supportive community of people that share their interests. There are many quality blogs that do not get recognition.

links from Technoratidinner tonight. Mmmm…. Blog Star Updates I’m so amazed at all the support that the Blog Star project is receiving. Other than the very helpful comments and early nominations, a few folks likeSueblimelyand Meg from Blogpond have blogged about the Awards. Thank you all so much. I realised that I’ve definitely opened up something here that both resonated with some folks and made others skeptical. I can understand both sides. And yes, I know that

Thanks for helping to promote this. I really appreciate your support and your kind words on this project. There will be a few things to learn here, and I’m keen to share what I find out. Again, thanks!

I look forward to reading all about it, Shai. Some problems I envisage for you come from experience of Blogging to Fame. Money is involved with that one though so there is more impetus for people to spam others for votes etc.

links from Technoratius to give one another and tagged a heap of people to start the season off. It is this sort of community stuff that Sue does well. Here’s an example card: [IMG] Other examples of her community building include a mention of the Be The Blog awards, Nominating a Blog Star, and Best Blogging Buddies. I can see why she moved from blogspot.com hosted Blogger and can also see the advantages of blogspot (I mentioned blogspot.com in both respects recently myself, but not as thoroughly as Sue).
