I first started blogging about 6 years ago, firstly with a blog for family and friends only. Apart from the family I created for myself in my adopted home of Australia (a husband and 3 children at that time) all my relatives were over in the UK as were some of my closest friends. Blogging was an ideal way to keep them up to date on our news, with the added bonus of photos.
My passion was born, fueled as time progressed by increasingly advanced developments in blogging and related web applications. I started a blog, now abandoned, on web design (which is how I try to make a living). The more I learned about blogging the more I began to appreciate its value in society for bringing people together from diverse backgrounds and cultures, to share common interests and goals. The development of social networking platforms and blogging communities, enabled by more advanced web technologies, gave me even more study. Having a background in Social Psychology and Sociology, I lapped this up.
My progression to blogging about blogging was therefore a very natural process. I wanted to share the knowledge I had gained over the years. In addition I wanted to be a part of it all.
I discovered there were many other well respected blogs about blogging and realized I had a tough road ahead of me to find readers interested in what I had to say. Many of these blogs are primarily concerned with how to make money online, Search Engine Optimization, and link building for the sake of it. They do contain some valuable information for all bloggers but only a minority of bloggers really need such detailed information on these matters. In my experience, most bloggers are just interested in writing about their interest areas, finding common ground with others and developing a close but not necessarily massive community. They just want to enjoy blogging, plain and simple.
So my motivation remained and purpose became defined. To help bloggers enjoy their blogging and to get the very most of it. I began to talk of areas I thought would be of the most interest and as time passed my readers began to help me by letting me know what they wanted or needed to know. Please keep your questions coming. Whether you are a complete beginner or a seasoned blogger, all questions are welcomed. The answers will hopefully help you and many others.
